Surrounding the city centre

Just outside the city centre, there are several car parks where you can park free of charge. A number are at walking distance from the centre, while a number are frequently connected by public transport. Details of these car parks can be found here.

There is a ‘Blue Zone’ surrounding the city centre. You can park free of charge in this area for a limited time (maximum 4 hours) between the hours of 9.00 and 18.00. Always display your parking disc, even on Sundays and public holidays. Details of the Blue Zone can be found here.

In the city centre

A list of all the central car parks with their charges can be found here. These car parks are open 24/24 and 7/7.

Tip! Paid parking is not time-limited and is cheapest in one of the two centre car parks: Centrum Station (a 15-minute walk to the Markt) and Centrum Zand (a 10-minute walk to the Markt). There is a frequent public transport service from the station to the city centre. The bus ride from the Centrum Station car park to the city centre is included in your car park ticket. Bus tickets can be obtained in advance and on presentation of your car park ticket in the Lijnwinkel in the station square (max. 4 per car park ticket) or from the driver if the Lijnwinkel is closed.

Above-ground parking in the city centre is limited to four hours between the hours of 9.00 and 20.00, and there is a charge (€2 for the first hour, €5 for two hours, €9 for three hours and €14 for four hours). You can pay by text message (Belgian phone numbers only), with the 4411 app, by bank card or with cash. You must always enter the correct number plate.
