Stationsplein (Station Square)
Life never stands still on Stationsplein. Commuters, city-hoppers, international visitors, people cycling to the office, students holding animated conversations - everyone is milling around in the spacious, open square. The main draw here is the busy train station; add to this all the taxis and buses which are constantly pulling up and departing and you’ve got a very lively spot. The train station used to be located on ’t Zand Square. The station as we know it today is in fact the third train station to enhance Bruges. It was inaugurated in 1939 and is located just outside the city centre. In the main station concourse, you will see a remarkable 90m² wall painting with the city of Bruges at its centre.
