O.L.V.-van-Blindekenskapel (Chapel of Our Lady of the Blind)
Even many of Bruges’ residents are unfamiliar with the Chapel of Our Lady of the Blind. Even though it’s just a stone’s throw from the busy Smedenstraat, with roots going back to 1305. On 15 August every summer, the procession of Our Lady of the Blind sets out from here, as it has ever since the 14th century, making it one of the oldest in Bruges. The 15th century wooden Statue of the Virgin that stands in the church is carried in the procession. Inside, you'll also find a flying miniature ship, an offering made after a grain ship reached the famished city. Take a look at the narrow street that runs alongside the chapel, leading to some whitewashed almshouses.
