Athora Great Bruges Marathon - Mobility and accessibility

The Great Bruges Marathon will be held on Sunday 17 October 2021. There will be a full and half a marathon. Both runners and walkers can participate and this at varying times.

The race will start at 10.00 a.m. at the Dijver and goes out to Lissewege, Zeebrugge, Dudzele and Koolkerke before it heads back to the city centre and finishes at the Markt square (see detailed trail in annex).
The Dijver and Gruuthusestraat will be closed between 06.00 a.m. and 12.00 midday. The Zuidzandstraat - Steenstraat - Market - Wollestraat will be made traffic-free from 8.00 a.m. and the Burg Square from 8.30 a.m. and this until the last runner arrives.

For the sake of the runners (not the walkers), certain streets in the city centre will be temporarily closed to traffic. The trail will be made traffic-free from 30 minutes before any participants passing and will be normalised depending on the whereabouts of the last runner. If the race allows this, crossing traffic will be possible.

There are no buses in the city centre between 8 am and 7 pm. The general pick-up and drop-off point is 't Zand and all stops on the Ring during the duration of the event.
The Citytour minibuses, bicycle carriages and horse carriages will exceptionally start their tours from Wollestraat from midday onwards.
