The people of Ghent have always been a bit rebellious. It’s in their genes. They rose in revolt against Emperor Charles. In Ghent you can find the medieval alongside the trendy. The centuries-old Belfry stands majestically alongside the new City Hall. There is a direct train connection between Bruges and Ghent (Sint-Pieters) (journey time: ca. 30 min.). Tram 1 rides from Ghent-Sint-Pieters railway station to the city centre every 10 minutes.
